Large Gulls in Hokkaido

Hokkaido is north Japan. 18 kinds of gulls are seen, and 11 kinds are large gulls.
The priority kind is different in Slaty-backed Gull(L.schistisagus )from Vega Gull(L.vegae ) of Honshu.

Heuglin's Gull Larus heuglini

Adult summer Heuglin's Gull(right) with adult Black-tailed Gull.

´tymairensis ' regarded as hybrid of vegae×heuglini in recent years also is seen.
Molt is later than Vega Gull. But, the back color is thinner than many Heuglin's Gulls,
and thinks of intermediate.
