The Short-tailed Albatross appeared at 5.AM floating quite close to the ship.
Recorded most of the other albatrosses around the same time.
I'm beginning to think that there are no Leach's , Swinhoe's or Band-rumped Storm Petrels breeding anywhere in the Tohoku/Hokkaido districts !!!!

At Utonai-ko , I again had no luck trying to see a singing Gray's Grasshopper Warbler but good views of Yellow-breasted Bunting.

Tomakomai-Sendai 25/6/01

25.6.01 4.00 - 8.30 Rain and mist

Black-footed Albatross 9
Streaked Shearwater 200+
Sooty Shearwater)
Short-tailed Shearwater )100+
(almost all Short-tailed - I think!)
Fulmar 1
Rhinoceros Auklet 20+
Auk sp 10
Black-tailed Gull

It was "Kitakami" so when it started raining there wasn't anywhere to shelter and observation was difficult.
I apologize , as usual , for the vagueness of the Sooty/Short-tailed Shearwater records.
I think they were mostly Short-tailed but I'm not confident so I've lumped them together.
